Solstice sunrise

A Solstice Beginning

This morning, my partner, our two dogs, and I set out early to watch the solstice sunrise. The sky was clear, the light came softly, and for a little while everything felt still in the most beautiful way.

We joined lots of other early risers, all gathered for that same quiet moment - waiting for the horizon to brighten and the day to begin. There was something comforting about it, that unspoken sense of sharing space with strangers who had also chosen to greet the morning properly.

Our dogs padded around happily, completely at home in the fresh air and open space, while we stood and watched the colours shift. It felt calm, grounding, and quietly joyful.

There is something special about a solstice sunrise. It asks nothing of you except that you show up and pay attention. This morning, that felt like enough. As a first post for Tide and Thorn, I can't think of a better place to begin: with light, with stillness, and with a reminder to notice what is right in front of us.
